Saturday February 11th-Sunday February 12th Knights and a Princess

Saturday February 11th-Sunday February 12th Knights and a Princess
Saturday we drove to Dunedin and enjoyed the wonderful botanical gardens.  If you happened to see my blog about Queens Park in Invercargill know how awesome the parks are here.  The kids really enjoyed the aviary and interacting with some of the very talkative birds.  After walking through several sections of the park we went to the duck pond where the kids each got a free bag of duck food.  They had a lot of fun there and right next door in the winter gardens.
An amusing sign outside of Waihola on the way to Dunedin.
We thought it was funny (and honest)!

Dunedin Botanical Gardens, a nice place for lunch!

The kids enjoy the free aviary.

More of the gardens.

Big leaves.

The kids relax.

After playing in the park we had a very scenic drive up to Larnach castle.  We checked into the stables before walking around the gardens around the only castle in NZ.  Once all the tourists had left, we headed to the castle for diner.  About twenty other guests staying at the castle joined us for the dinner.  It was a three course meal complete with a lecture on the castle and its history.  Breakfast in the stables was included (and delicious).  We toured the castle before driving back to Winton.  We stopped at the Westpac Aquarium on the way!

Brody found the mini sub.

This sub gives you the experience of deep water diving.

The kids loved the touch and feel pool.
